WHAT: UAF Wind Symphony and UAF Jazz @ 6 Concert

The UAF Jazz @ 6 and UAF Wind Symphony are hosting a joint concert on Wednesday, February 29th. The concert will be held in the Davis Concert Hall and begin at 8pm. The cost will be $10 for adults and $5 for students, seniors and military.
The Jazz @ Six Band is performing music to be presented on the following weekend at the Notre Dame Collegiate Jazz Festival in Indiana, an event in which they were invited to participate after an auditioned selection process. This will be the second time in two years the band, under the direction of Dr. James Bicigo, has been invited to the festival but the first year they will be able to travel to the event. This will be the send off performance for this select group of musicians.
The Wind Symphony, under the direction of Dr. Karen Gustafson, will be celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the release of the original Star Wars movie by performing music from the original trilogy including “The Imperial March.” “ Princess Leia’s Theme,” “The Battle in the Forest,” and “Yoda’s Theme and Star Wars Main Theme.” Other music will include Shelley Hanson’s “Tocata” and “La Tumba de Alejandro Garcia Caturla” from *Islas y Montanas* and Mary Ellen Childs’ “Zephyrus.”
